From apprentice to vice-champion: Patrick M., an aspiring mechanical engineering technician at WM technics, delivered an outstanding performance at the WorldSkills South Tyrol (September 18–20, 2025, in Bolzano), earning second place in the “Mechanical Engineering Technician – CNC Milling” category.
In the competition, not only the quality of the manufactured parts but also the participants’ working methods, cleanliness, and speed were evaluated. Patrick excelled in all categories—securing his well-deserved spot on the podium.
For WM technics, this achievement is more than just a reason to celebrate. Patrick began his apprenticeship at the Bolzano facility at the age of 15 and is now one of the young talents actively shaping the company’s future. “We are proud of our apprentices and the dedication they bring to their work every day,” emphasizes Managing Director and CIO Markus Kofler. “At WM technics, we view training as an investment in the future – we train the future.”
Patrick’s participation in the WorldSkills is not only a personal honor but also proof of the company’s high training standards. At WM technics, precision, teamwork, and innovation have always been core values—principles that are equally vital in international competitions.
Known for its ice resurfacing machines “Made in South Tyrol,” WM technics has been developing and producing high-precision solutions for professional ice maintenance in stadiums and mobile rinks worldwide for nearly four decades. The success of such a young team member at an international vocational competition highlights the strong link between training, technical expertise, and passion for innovation.
“Patrick’s success shows that expertise, precision, and enthusiasm are the best tools for the future,” adds Mirko Sparber, Sales & Marketing Director. “We warmly congratulate him on this fantastic result and wish him continued success in the competitions to come!”
